The night before he and Lana Lang leave for their freshman term at Shuster University in Seigel Florida, Clark Kent saves his best friend Pete Ross one more time. They're at a bonfire at Lake Wylie State Park. Pete and a girl named Becky are arguing, and soon they are drag racing. Pete loses control of his car and almost goes over a cliff into the lake. Dropped off at home afterward, Clark gets some sage advice from Pa Kent.The Kents see Clark and Lana off at the bus terminal and the two are on their way. Shuster University campus is a huge difference from Smallville, Kansas.TJ White is dropped off by his father, who turns out to be Clark's idol.As Clark, Lana and TJ get settled in, starnge things are happening in the research lab.
